OPI Pirates of The Caribbean Week - Collection Overview

 The Six Shades

Steady As She Rose                               Skull and Gloss Bones

       Stranger Tides                                         Mermaid's Tears

Sparrow Me The Drama                           Planks A Lot

All the polishes in this collection applied like an absolute dream, I think OPI have definitely been tweaking their creme formula, and I hope they keep this standard, nearly all the polishes in this collection were fully opaque at 2 coats and with a perfect even high gloss finish. As much as I usually adore shimmery finishes, this collection really reminded me how awesome and sophisticated creme polishes can look. Simply Stunning! The Silver Shatter polish is a lovely highlight of this collection and it looks really lovely over all the shades, subtle like a glistening wave over the softer shades and vibrant over the darker shades making them shimmer like jewels.

The Six Shades with Silver Shatter

Steady As She Rose                               Skull and Gloss Bones

       Stranger Tides                                         Mermaid's Tears

Sparrow Me The Drama                           Planks A Lot

Application Tips for Silver Shatter
I tried several different methods when applying the Silver Shatter Polish, on the first 3 shades I applied Seche Vite then Shatter after 5 mins, on the last two no Seche Vite after 5 mins of applying polish (these resulted in a much thicker shatter effect). The most successful application was the 4th shade Mermaid's Tears, where I applied Shatter a good 15 mins after Seche Vite, I liked this crackle effect the most.

I applied Silver Shatter relatively thickly in 3 non overlapping strokes.

OPI Planks A Lot with Silver Shatter (no Top Coat)

OPI Planks A Lot with Silver Shatter (with Top Coat)

Here is the last combination for Pirates Week, as expected Silver Shatter looks pretty awesome over Planks A Lot, I'm definitely preferring it over the darker shades from this collection :D

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week - Part 6 Planks A Lot

So its the final polish in OPI Pirates of the Caribbean week: Planks A Lot:

Planks A Lots it the only true purple shade from this collection, its a warm pale violet shade. Like all the cremes another joy to apply, I hope OPI stick to this formula for all their new cremes, its just so easy to work with! This was fully opaque at 2 coats with a glossy finish.

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week Part 5 cont - Sparrow Me The Drama with Silver Shatter

OPI Sparrow Me The Drama with Silver Shatter (no Top Coat)

OPI Sparrow Me The Drama with Silver Shatter (with Top Coat)

Pink and Silver really go well together, the only problem is I don't think I gave Sparrow Me The Drama long enough to dry before applying silver shatter, although the crackle effect is still visible, I think applying Silver Shatter over completely dry nails has given me a nicer crackle effect. This has tempted me to try a pink and silver French manicure though, must try that out soon! :)

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week - Part 5 Sparrow Me The Drama

Sparrow Me The Drama is the next polish in OPI Pirates of The Caribbean Week:

Sparrow Me The Drama is a pale pastel pink creme. Although Sparrow Me The Drama, may just look like "another typical pink" the dusky muted tones of this polish really make it more special, and to be honest I think its the "duskiness" that makes all the polishes in this collection a lot more unique than they may seem at a first glance. I have a feeling I'm going to like silver shatter on this one!

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week - Part 4 cont - Mermaid's Tears with Silver Shatter

OPI Mermaid's Tears with Silver Shatter (no Top Coat)

OPI Mermaid's Tears with Silver Shatter (with Top Coat)

This combination is my favourite so far, as I expected the Silver Shatter really works well with the darker pastels from this combination, and it looks absolutely gorgeous over the minty green tones of Mermaid's Tears.

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week Part 3 cont - Stranger Tides with Silver Shatter

OPI Stranger Tides with Silver Shatter (no Top Coat)

OPI Stranger Tides with Silver Shatter (with Top Coat)

I have to admit this is my favourite combination so far, the contrast between Stranger Tides and Silver Shatter really stands out!

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week Part 3 - Stranger Tides

Next up in OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week is Stranger Tides (names after the new Pirates Movie)

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week - Stranger Tides

Stranger Tides is a murky grayed out light green creme polish. It's a bit like the reverse of Skull and Glossbones, as that was a green toned grey, and this is a grey toned green. A gorgeous dusky pastel shade, this was also opaque in 2 coats and very glossy. OPI have really perfected the formula of their cremes with this collection, each one has been an absolute joy to apply so far.

This is another very unusual shade from OPI, and pretty unique! It actually makes me think of rotting flesh lol, so I cant help but think this would work very well for a halloween manicure (I must remember that this october) but at the same time looks very chic and wearable. Awesome colour!

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week Part 2 cont - Skull and Glossbones with Silver Shatter

OPI Skull and Glossbones with Silver Shatter (no Top Coat)

OPI Skull and Glossbones with Silver Shatter (with Top Coat)

Another subtle combination with the silver shatter, but I absolutely love how Silver Shatter looks over Skull and Glossbones!

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week Part 2 - Skull and Glossbones

Next up in OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week is Skull and Glossbones

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week - Skull and Glossbones

Skull and Glossbones is a gorgeous light bone grey creme polish, with a green undertone, a very unusual shade from OPI. It's a lighter version of Essie's Chinchilly. Both polishes have a warm tone to them. So if you are a fan of Chinchilly, you'll definitely love this polish!

Skull and Glossbones is definitely my favourite name from this collection, it always makes me smile when I type it. Fully opaque in 2 coats with a lovely high gloss finish.

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week Part 1 - cont Steady As She Rose with Silver Shatter

Here is how OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean: Steady As She Rose looks with the Silver Shatter on top:

OPI Steady As She Rose with Silver Shatter (No Top Coat)

OPI Steady As She Rose with Silver Shatter (with Top Coat)

Adding top coat definitely brings out the sparkle in the silver shatter, although I do like the effect I think the Silver Shatter would stand out more over a slightly darker base polish, as the effect is quite subtle over Steady As She  Rose, it is however stunning, and a very appropriate addition to this collection as it makes all the polishes look like jewels. Looking forward to seeing how it looks over the other colours!

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Week Part 1 - Steady As She Rose

This week is OPI Pirates of The Caribbean Week, the collection comprises of 6 lovely pastel creme shades and a special Silver Shatter Top Coat Polish, First up is Steady As She Rose, this collection is definitely going to have some fun names :) I really love pastel shades, so I have a strong feeling I'm going to enjoy this collection!

OPI Pirates of The Caribbean - Steady As She Rose

Steady As She Rose is a very light pink creme polish with lilac undertones, opaque in 2 coats, this one dries with a lovely high gloss finish, and applies like a dream, although I wasn't completely enamored with this one from the bottle, once applied it was love at first sight.
