NOTD - Holographic Neon Crackle

What do you get when you merge a neon, a holo and some crackle, a very  bright summery manicure :)

This was

Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy 1 coat

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy 3 coats

OPI Standing Room Only (holo) 1 coat

China Glaze Crackle Glaze Broken Hearted 1 coat 

OPI Standing Room Only is a definite favourite of mine, it can make nearly any colour holographic, the possibilities are endless, but I'm most fond of using it over neon shades like Flip Flop Fantasy. This is the second time I've tried Broken Hearted crackle polish over holo and I have to say I really love the effect! Really enjoying the summery pinks at the moment!

Today's NOTD is bright and summery :) like the weather was over here, until today :( it's just clouded over unfortunately. Anyway this was China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy a neon from the Poolside Collection with OPI Standing Room Only (silver) holographic polish layered on top :)

I absolutely adore OPI Standing Room Only as a holo top coat, and it works especially well over neon shades :D

this is how China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy looks on its own, camera's aren't too fond of neon shades, but this came out pretty close

I finally managed to remove the last manicure I did with OPI's Standing Room Only, so at long last I got to try it over some neon polishes :D so here's a very out of season summery manicure :D

I am really happy with how these manis turned out, Standing Room Only works incredibly well on top of neon colours, but you have to apply a very thing layer so the overall colour effect is not lost. These made me feel extremely Summery, which is quite nice considering how dismal it is outside :(. Some Konad Designs to follow soon :D

OPI Standing Room Only Swatches Layered with other polishes

With the arrival of China Glaze's new holographic collection Tronica looming in the not too distant future, it seems the excitement of holographic polishes is definitely returning :D
So after the arrival of my most coveted holographic polish: OPI's Standing Room Only, yesterday, I couldn't resist seeing how this polish works layered over colours other than black. Needless to say I'm too in love with how it looks over black to remove it, so I tried out some swatches over a few other colours from my collection on a nail wheel :D Some of them are simply too awesome for words :D
The colours I chose for testing are:
China Glaze Poolside Collection: Kiwi Cool-Ada (neon green), Towel Boy Toy (neon blue), Yellow Polka Dot Bikini (neon yellow), Pool Party (neon pink), Sun Worshiper (neon orange), Flip Flop Fantasy (neon peach),China Glaze WOW Neon Collection: Purple Panic (neon purple) OPI: Jade is The New Black (green), Kennebunk-Port (crimson), Feelin’ Hot Hot Hot! (pink), China Glaze Tis The Season to be Naughty and Nice: Little Drummer Boy (dark blue shimmer) and Naughty and Nice (very dark burgundy)

All photos have the original polish on the left and the polish with 1 coat of Standing Room Only on the right. First up is:

For some reason it looks like this polish was meant to be layered over neons! It goes on very thinly and applies perfectly even. That's not to say you cant use it over standard polishes as well, it just goes on slightly thickly, however one thing to bear in mind if you choose dark colours, you nearly always end up with the same look (just like over black) see the last pic for this. RED HOLOGRAPHIC!!! This is beyond exciting for me, as I've yet to find a good red holo, as you can see from these pics Standing Room Only does apply slightly thicker to non neons, but the overall effect is still utterly stunning :D

And Finally the failure pics, as I said previously if you choose a colour which is very dark, the overall effect once you layer Standing Room Only is almost identical to my first attempt with black polish, so unless you want that dark grey holo its best to stick to more vibrant colours to get the best effect :D

If I ever get round to doing a top 10 polish list I have a feeling OPI's Standing Room Only would feature very near if not at the top :D its by far the most exciting holo I've owned, and it gives the opportunity to revamp so many colours from my collection :D If you fancy seeing how this polish looks over a specific colour just give me a shout :D. Now I'm off to pick which neon to try out on my nails :D mmmmmm Holo Goodness :D

I really love this crackle polish :) it's so fun watching it dry and go all crackly :D I remember trying a cover girl one many years ago, but I dont think I ever applied it correctly as I just could never seem to get it to work, am absolutely in love with this Barry M one though, cannot wait to try it over lots of other colours :D

KOTD - Alt French Mani with China Glaze Poolside in Flip Flop Fantasy with Konad Plate M62

This KOTD, was done using China Glaze Poolside in flip flop fantasy (a bright neon peach colour) here's how I applied it:

OPI Chip Skip
Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy 1 coat

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy 3 coats

Top Coat: Seche Vite (ensures the nails are completely dry for Konading)

Konad Special Polish in Black Pearl and plate M62 french plate

Top Coat: Seche Vite (about 5 mins after konading, and in three strokes not overlapping)

Nail Art: Perfect Girl Nail art stickers click here to go to their site. I slid these off the sheet using a hoof stick and applied them to the nail.

Top Coat: Seche Vite to seal the nail decals.

Neons are notoriously hard to photograph, and the effect in real life is a lot more vibrant, think of a peach coloured high lighter, and just in case here is the rest of the China Glaze Poolside collection swatches. All three coats.
